Had to fly from Rome to Copenhagen return twice, and both experiences with Cimber Sterling have been rather negative. The staff at the check-in is patronizing and unfriendly, not to say rude. Moreover, they lost a baggage of mine and the follow up customer assistance has been completely non existent : not a word on whether my luggage is trackable. They also charged on my credit card the amount of a return ticket I bought, without sending me a confirmation email. The second time I flew from Rome to Copenhagen I would have picked up another company, but this was the only airline that allowed me to be in town in time for my meetings.

CPH to AMS, last minute booking very cheap. Service good enough, friendly enough. Reserved seats before checking in very nice. Beware though: you may think you get a Boeing but you may end up with an old propellor plane which happened to me yesterday, resulting in 40 minutes longer flying time, so you may not exactly get what you were expecting! A jet is just a little bit more comfortable and faster. All in all value for money, but wouldn't do this for regular business trips.

Aalborg-CPH-Amsterdam. Aalborg to CPH with ATR 42-500, on time, free seating and boarding was efficient. No services provided during the short 40 mins hop to CPH. Second leg to AMS with 737-700, plane for 90% full. Paid extra 7 euros to book an emergency exit row seat. Only the window seat have extra leg space, but is was worth the extra 7 euros. Always a pity when landing on the remote Polderbaan, as it takes another 15 minutes before reaching the final gate. Cimber is good value for money, paid less then 150 euros, including 1 piece of checked in luggage and I only booked 3 days in advance.

Copenhagen to Montpellier. I booked this flight online based on the cheap cost (45 Euro). I had never heard of Sterling before. Overall a good experience. check in smooth, good departure in pouring rain with newish 737-700 aircraft. Very empty flight so had 3 seats to myself and managed to sleep. Did not purchase food. Great value for money and we arrived early too!

CPH-NRK-CPH ATR72. Decent legroom but cabin interior is showing its age. Seat pocket with torn magazine and dirty safety card. Web check-in worked for seat selection only - I could not print my boarding card. Food and drinks for purchase - a bit pricey and not really needed on this 1-hour-flight. Informative cockpit crew, stewardesses polite but not overly friendly. Fare was cheap and flights on-time but overall impression is rather average.

During the recent problems due to the volcanic ash we were stranded in Denmark for almost a week. Airline arranged our hotel including all meals and even provided taxi vouchers. They settled direct with the hotel so we did not have to find extra funds. Staff friendly and efficient - outstanding handling of difficult situation.

LGW-CPH. Check-in efficient and quick. Assigned seats. Flight departure on time and early arrival at CPH. Besides the complimentary newspaper and coffee/tea/water and chocolate, there was full catering on board to be purchased.

CPH-VCE-CPH. Flew Cimber Sterling for the 3rd time this year, and a great experience. Both flights on newish 737-700 with leather interior. The crew was friendly and professional and complimentary coffee/tea and chocolate on board. Price of onboard catering is very reasonable. Price of return flight 130 euros.

ATH-CPH-ATH. Very expensive for what they offer. It is supposed to be a low-cost airline. Everything on board was very pricey. The legroom was a nightmare. ATH-CPH was delayed for 40 minutes and no explanation at all. It was operated by Primera Air. Staff unprofessional, after serving coffee, they disappeared. Return flight to ATH was a better experience. The aircraft was an old Sterling Airlines 737.

MUC-CPH. Was surprised to end up on this airline, as I had booked Lufthansa. Cimber has a one- class cabin, so the full fare I paid allowed flexibility, but ungarnished with any extras or any idea of decent inflight service. Service staff friendly enough, service concept quite low standard.

Travelled from Gatwick to Copenhagen. Reasonably low fares. Complimentary newspaper and tea/coffee. Slightly grumpy cabin crew. On-time departure. All in all a fairly good experience EXCEPT the airline insists on not providing airconditioning before engine start (Sterling were the same) resulting in a very poor air quality in the cabin on the ground. My guess is the temperature in the cabin was about 30 degrees at departure time.

Nice to Copenhagen. Terrible on the ground. Okay in the air. Check in system failed at Nice Airport, kept everyone in line for 1.5 hours with no explanation. Then put everyone on a bus to wait on the tarmac for 25 mins in 30 degree heat while they cleaned the plane, with no aircon. Not great for anyone, particularly those flying with young children, late departure, and late landing. I know this site doesn't allow comments about luggage. So suffice to say there is no agent on the ground in CPH to great passengers to assist with any difficulty. Would never fly them again.

No online check in a drawback. Not being able to select a seat is also a drawback. However, instead of the embarrassingly 'cheap' idea of charging for newspapers as Sterling did, Cimber provides newspapers free. They also provide coffee, tea and water free. These are small amenities, but nevertheless welcome and unusual for a discount airline. Cimber had a high ticket client background and it shows it's welcome head. They're friendly, and certainly improve in the poor Sterling Airline package. I give them my business and hope they quickly add those facility details frequent flyers appreciate.

CPH-FLR-CPH. Excellent service for a very reasonable price. It's really Cimber/Sterling airline - some sort of tie-up between the two. There and back on the old B737 in Sterling red livery. I had purchased a drink on the plane, and they would only accept credit card payment - somewhat perplexing when the charge came through as 'Lawyer xxxx'. I thought I was in legal trouble!

HEL-CPH-NUE I travelled with SAS and Cimber. HEL-CPH was OK but in CPH the problems started. Ten minutes before the check-in was supposed to start there was a sudden change of the gate. There was no notification about this at the gate, only on some of the screens in the terminal. We realized something had changed as no staff occured. The new gate was in another terminal as far away as possible at CPH. At the new gate there was no boarding as there was some problems with the plane. After waiting for an hour we heard that they (Cimber) are searching for another plane. Half an hour later we got the information that the flight is cancelled (as was many others at the same time). We got a new connection to NUE via DUS. We arrived at NUE seven hours late, which is not so nice when travelling with a five month old baby. And thanks to SAS-policy it is impossible to even get a glass of water for free onboard SAS and Cimber. We hoped for much better for the flight home. But unfortunately that was not the case. The FA at the flight from NUE to CHP was the most incompetent FA I have met (maybe she just had a bad day). Our seats where overbooked but in the half empty plane she could not decide where we should sit. We stood in the front of the plane with our baby-chair as she was running around to find a place for us, even though the front of the plane was empty. In a CRJ-200 it is not so easy for a 190cm guy to move around with a baby and a chair and have a FA running up and down the aisle. After landing in CPH the attendant had stowed away the baby-chair somewhere in the front of the plane, as we where sitting on the last row. Even though all other passangers had left the aircraft she did not make any effort to help us. I had to pick up the chair myself and as we where packing our belongings you could just see how little she wanted to be there anymore. I will by all means try to avoid Cimber and to some extent SAS in the future.
CIMBER STERLING customer review : 19 February 2009 : by Claus Nielsen

Good service, friendly staff - there's no discount feeling here, as opposed to SAS, which is typically more expensive, but with lower quality and service. Turboprops are of course a bit loud, but that goes for all airlines.

LGW-CPH, former Sterling route which is now operated by Cimber. They use the old Sterling 737s, have about the same fares as Sterling had on this route but have luckily abandoned the low-cost service. One piece of checked luggage is free and so is coffee/tea and water on board. Have to say that coffee was one of the best I've ever had on an airplane. FAs friendly, flight on time, CPH the usual hassle. It's simply too big to work effectively, in our case we had to wait 15 mins for a bus to take us to a gate with passport controls. Only negative aspect I can think about is that there is no online check-in option and check-in at the airport already closes 60 minutes before departure. Easyjet, which is a direct competitor on this route, is definitely better here.
CIMBER STERLING review : 5 July 2008 : by Janne Petersson

This is a Danish regional airline operating both own flights and on behalf of Scandinavian Airlines. I booked a journey from Copenhagen to Berlin and to my amazement, the journey involved a stop (with change of aircraft) in Billund. This option was cheaper than SAS and Lufthansa, so I decided to give them a try. They turned out to be much better than SAS. Copenhagen to Billund was a very short hop but they managed to serve a soft drink and piece of chocolate. Billund-Berlin they served a salmon sandwich, soft drink and coffee. All refreshments served for, a nice touch. Cimber's Regional Jet aircraft are not the most roomy and comfortable aircraft around, but this minor remark was more than compensated by the cheap fare, the pleasant and service-minded crews and the free catering. I would recommend Cimber Sterling.

I would recommend Cimber Sterling.
ciiiippppppp grazie mille!
credo che prenderò la Norwegian air
in realtà con la Cimber pagheremmo anche di più, ma gli orari dei voli sarebbero decisamente migliori...
